SBA names business award winners for 2009
The U.S. Small Business Administration honors outstanding small-business owners, entrepreneurs and advocates. Winners for this award are judged on seven criteria: staying power; growth in number of employees; increase in sales and/or unit volume; strong current and past financial reports; innovativeness of product or service offered; response to adversity; and contributions by nominee to aid community-oriented projects. Nominations Guidelines
The Cleveland District office of the U. S. Small Business Administration has selected its small business award honoree for 2009, and will be recognized at an awards luncheon to be announced at a later date.
Rick Zamora, owner and President of Global Point Technologies, Inc., has been named SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year for the Cleveland District office.
This year marks the 56th anniversary of the SBA, and the 46th annual proclamation of Small Business Week.
The President of the United States designates one week each year as National Small Business Week in recognition of the small business community’s contribution to the American economy. This celebration honors the estimated 26 million small businesses in America that employ half of the country's private work force, create 60 to 80 percent of net new jobs annually, and generate a majority of American innovations. The U.S. Small Business Administration will mark Small Business Week 2009, with events to be held on May 18-19, 2009, in Washington, D.C.
